Dr. Barry Polansky has been practicing
in the Philadelphia area for more than 25 years.
He has grown his practice through two relocations
to his current, custom-built office where he specializes
in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Barry has developed a reputation as the Rudy Giuliani
of dentistry. Hard-hitting and successful, he delivers
expert insight with an alternative edge. Second
to none in his love for the profession, he is not
afraid to take an audacious stand for what he believes
whether it means avoiding membership in the ADA
because of its political overtones or serving as
an irreverent, though respectful, gadfly in The
Pankey Institute.
Barry is the author of The Art of the Examination
and numerous articles, which have appeared in such
industry magazines as Dental Economics, Dentistry
Today, Dental Practice and Finance and The Pankeygram,
and the editor, founder and primary writer of the
very popular dental newsletter,
DENTAL
LIFE. Barry, who has been a public speaker since
1994, has addressed numerous Pankey Study Clubs,
Jersey Coast Study Club, and the Paddi Lund Seminar.

Dr. Barry Polansky takes pride in being a straightforward,
engaging speaker and a born storyteller. His talks
are invariably sprinkled with tales from his own
life that illustrate his points in ways sure to
keep audiences thinking and talking long after the
event is over.
Dr. Polansky was born in the Bronx, New York in
January 1948. He graduated from Queens College in
1969 and completed his D.M.D. Doctor of Dental Medicine
degree in 1973 at the University Of Pennsylvania
School Of Dental Medicine. After graduation, Dr.
Polansky spent two years in the U.S. Army Dental
Corps, stationed at Ft. Dix New Jersey. Dr. Polansky
married his present wife in 1973 and they have two
sons, Bret, age 30 and Joshua, age 26. Dr. Polansky
entered general practice in 1975 by setting up his
own practice in Medford Lakes New Jersey. In 1978
he built his second practice in the town in which
he now lives, Cherry Hill, New Jersey. At the present
time Dr. Polansky practices dentistry three and
one half days per week in his own building which
he constructed in 1999. The practice is predominantly
a restorative cosmetic practice.
Dr. Polansky's post graduate education includes
completing The Continuum of courses at The Pankey
Institute in Key Biscayne Florida and is now a visiting
faculty at the
Pankey
Institute. He has also completed the series
of courses at Dr. Peter Dawson's Center for Advanced
Studies in St. Petersburg Florida. He has completed
Dr. Michael Schuster's program in Scottsdale Arizona.
Dr. Polansky is an lifelong student who has taken
courses given by some of dentistry's best teachers
like, Dr. Frank Spear, Dr. John Kois, Dr. Dick Barnes,
just to mention a few. In 1995, Dr. Polansky wrote
his first article for Dental Economics. It was the
cover article. Since that time Dr. Polansky has
become known as one of dentistry's best authors
and dental philosophers. He has written for many
of the industries magazines including Dental Economics,
Dentistry Today, Dental Practice and Finance, Independent
Dentistry (the UK) and his articles can be seen
regularly in The Pankeygram, the official newsletter
of The Pankey Institute.
In 1999, Dr. Polansky developed his own newsletter,
DENTAL LIFE, which
has become a leading guide for dentists who seek
a philosophical approach toward running their practices.
The newsletter led to the completion of his first
book, The Art of the Examination which was published
by Private Practice Publications in March, 2002.
Dr. Polansky has now become a highly sought after
author and is in the process of writing his Art
of the Examination series including The Dentist's
Roadmap to Success. He is also writing a general
business book titled Leverage.
Dr. Polansky began his speaking career in 1994 when
he taught a one year management course. In 1995
he taught the management course to junior dental
students at the University Of Pennsylvania School
Of Dental Medicine. Dr. Polansky gives a one seminar
on The Art of the Examination. He has given his
program to the Pankey Study Club of St. Louis, in
November 2001. He has spoken to the Jersey Shore
- Seattle Study Club in Neptune New Jersey in September
2000 and the Cape May County Dental Society in February
2001. Dr. Polansky produced and was the emcee for
The Paddi Lund Seminar in April 2002 at the Loews
South Beach in Miami Florida. Dr. Polansky has recently
spoken at the Delaware Dental Society and the Texas
dental meeting 2004 and Florida American Academy
of Dental Practice Administrators.
Dr. Polansky has many diverse hobbies. In addition
to running a full time dental practice, he is also
a noted author, and a voracious reader. He reads
at least 2 books each week and can be called a modern
Renaissance man. One of the columns in his newsletter
is devoted to book reviews on a variety of subjects.
Dr. Polansky is devoted to his health and spends
over ten hours each week in the gym. He loves fifties
doo-wop music and computers, but after his family,
his greatest joy in life is his dogs. He built a
kennel for his growing family of boxers. He and
his wife Maddie breed, show and raise champion boxers.
That alone is a full time job for many. Dr. Polansky
took L.D. Pankey's philosophy to heart when he advised
to live a balanced life.
