The mastermind group has been proven over the years, since those words were written, to be one of the most powerful tools for success ever created. The mastermind group holds many advantages for experiential learning. It provides a safe environment for discussing and helping one another with very important personal issues of success. It also provides a level of accountability to one another. A key part of the Pankey Philosophy is applying your knowledge. And as Einstein said, “Nothing happens until something moves.” That is the ultimate purpose of the dental mastermind.

Mastermind groups consist of compatible people, from across the country, who will “meet” via the teleconference forum format. I will talk with each of you, who express interest, to learn about you and then create powerful combinations of dentists. Each group will be facilitated by me and another Mastermind coach who has had significant experience with “living out” a philosophy of dental practice.

How It Works
The Dental Mastermind
Groups will meet biweekly for 3 months. After the 3-month period, each group will decide if they want to continue, or join a new Mastermind. The groups will meet to share ideas, thoughts, information, feedback and resources. By getting the perspectives of all group members, you can begin to move beyond your limited view of the world and into the universe of possibility.

In order to get the most out of your Mastermind, you must be willing to tell the truth. In order to do this, all members will be sworn to confidentiality. Confidentiality is what allows the level of trust to build. The mastermind groups will be assembled with diversity in mind. We feel that you will get much more out of it by learning different points of view from people who may have different strengths.

The group will meet biweekly on a teleconference bridge line. The Groups will be limited to 6-8 dentists. Each meeting will have a specific format. There will be a facilitator and a timekeeper. The first meeting will be introductory with each member having time to explain her or his specific needs and wants. This meeting will last for 2 hours. There will be a brainstorming session during this first meeting, and we will form “accountable buddy” relationships. Each subsequent meeting will last for 1 hour. There will be 6 additional meetings. The format will be reviewed at the first meeting.

E-mail between members will be encouraged and buddies will communicate freely on assignments. The purpose is to achieve results. I believe to know something and not to do it is not to know it.

During the February 23rd sample teleconference on “You Are the Future of Dentistry,” participants discovered the ideas of others could be easily shared, and they were energized and encouraged by the presentation material and ensuing discussion.

All teachers of human potential believe in the process of manifestation – the process of creating anything from a thought to a tangible result. The process begins with a paradigm or model for the way things are. The model leads to our thoughts, and as we have heard many times, “as we thinketh…so we become.” Our thoughts give way to our feelings, which may or may not be every comfortable.

The next step is action which is the most difficult in the creation process because many times the action requires us to leave our comfort zone. When action occurs, the process is complete with the final result. Covey said it best with his phrase: “Begin with the end in mind.” By far the most difficult part of the process is action.

Most successful people credit membership in a mastermind group as the single most effective factor in their success. The reason for this is that the changes we want and need to make most are difficult. The mastermind accelerates growth by clearing the path to make better choices and making its members accountable. More can be achieved in less time when people work together. I feel the Mastermind is the most effective way to get into action.
